Raleigh Tax Revaluation
In Wake County, NC, the Department of Revenue updates property values at least once every eight years. Some find this promising, others find this discouraging.
Recently they have revalued all Wake County properties. All residents should be receiving a notice in the mail of their revaluation along with an appeal form. If you feel that your home has been valued incorrectly you are welcome to make an appeal to the Revenue Department.
The revaluation can be seen as promising in that it verifies that the value of your home has risen and it can be seen as discouraging in that your property taxes will go up OR the value of your home may have decreased. If you are truly discouraged, fill out the appeal if you feel that the information they provide you is incorrect.
