Realistic New Years Resolutions

It’s that time of year again. Can you believe it? I can’t speak for the rest of the world, but I think this was easily the speediest year in history!! As we say goodbye to 2009 and hello to 2010 many of us will compile a list of resolutions to help make the coming year even better than those preceding it.

I’ve been known to set such resolutions, but come March 1st I’ve either completely forgotten what I resolved to do or simply gave up because I wasn’t determined enough. For the last three or four years I’ve decided to stop making unresolvable resolutions and instead really break them down and make small changes that are much more realistic.

Last year was successful. I actually wrote a list of about 7 resolutions. I told myself that I didn’t have to complete them all, but to pick them off one at a time. Now that the year has come to and end I am glad to say that I completed 4 of the 7. So this year I will do the same.

I am going to post my list here so that y’all can keep tabs on me. Feel free to post your resolutions too and we can all keep each other motivated.

Here goes:

Concert Singers of Cary present: Handel’s Messiah

On Friday, December 18th at 8:00 pm, the Concert Singer of Cary will present a performance of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah at Louisburg College and on Saturday, December 19th at 8:00 pm at Halle Cultural Arts Center on Salem St. in downtown Apex, NC.

The Louisburg College concert is a free performance, but they are asking that you bring a canned food item as a donation. The Apex concert is $14 at the door or $10 in advance if you purchase them through the Town of Apex’s ticket site or by clicking here.

I am excited to be singing this fine work of art for the second time. You will hear me singing solo But Who May Abide the Day of His Coming and Come Unto Him. I’m looking forward to making beautiful music and sharing my love for classical and choral singing this weekend!

Hope to see you there…

Cycling Road Rules

Just a little something that has been on my nerves since the scavenger hunt:

Cyclists are supposed to follow the same road laws as motor vehicles. That means, stop at red lights and stop signs, use hand signals to turn or change lanes, do not ride on side walks, and turn on a light when driving at night.

There, I said it!
